by HarperPress in 2010.
As an economic journalist, he was editor of Euromoney
and financial editor of The Guardian before moving
to The Independent. His recent awards include:
Best Communicator in the 2007 Business Journalist
of the Year Awards; Business and Finance Journalist
of the Year in the 2006 British Press Awards;
and the David Watt Prize for political and economic
journalism in 2005. He has a masters degree in
economics and political science from Trinity College,

Silberbauer, head of social media
LLars Silberbauer holds the position of Global Social
Media Strategist at the LEGO Group and is responsible
for driving the strategic development and implementation
of all major social media initiatives for the LEGO
brand. He comes from a background in digital and
broadcast media from his previous position at the
Danish Broadcast Corporation.
Besides working on numerous social media projects
and with digital media, Lars has been working as
Creative Project Manager for the light projections
at the new DR Concert House in DR Byen. The concert
hall was built by the French architect Jean Nouvel
who has created a world class venue where architecture
and media are closely connected.
Lars has a Masters degree in Digital Media from
the University of Copenhagen and a HD degree in
Strategy and Business Innovation from Copenhagen

leading manufacturer of major home appliances, with
global annual sales of approximately $19 billion.

and Amana brands in the UK. Huw previously worked
at British Airways, firstly heading up digital marketing
for Middle East & Asia-Pacific, and latterly
looking after digital marketing innovation at a
global level, focusing on social media and mobile. |

Weigel, head of planning
Martin is Head of Planning for
Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam. Before coming to Amsterdam
he was at Leo Burnett (working on breakfast cereals,
woop) and JWT (working on diamonds) in London.
Before that he worked at JWT São Paulo
where he managed to find the time to be both regional
head of planning for Latin America and a global
planning director on Unilever. Before that, he
was at JWT in New York working on everything from
diamonds to financial services, alcohol to shampoo.
Martin has an M.A. in International History from
the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Paul is an elected Patient Governor of the Chelsea
Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust and an Advisory

French skincare brand RoC, driving global

Since taking over leadership of the brand at the
end of 2007, Gary has led a complete strategic

of the packaging, products and communication affecting
all product platforms. Some 50 products have been
upgraded and restaged. His

Group Activation Director, Global Solutions
Brothers has been fascinated by all things digital
from a young age, back when email and chat rooms
were for geeks and acronyms like HTTP and URL were
met with blank faces.
She joined MEC Global Solutions in March 2010 and
is the digital lead on the global Sony Ericsson
account and is also responsible for launching the
social media practice within the Global Solutions
team.
Fascinated by the emerging social media space, Brothers
is a keen blogger and an active participant in the
IPA's efforts to educate in this area, as a member
of the IPA Social group. She was named one of Media
Week's 30 under 30 in 2008 and also a member of
Bloom, a group focused on supporting women in the
advertising and communications industry through
mentoring, networking and events.
Brother was responsible for launching PHD Rocket's
digital offering in 2007, looking after brands like
Toshiba, Gamestation, Virgin Media TV and Innocent
Smoothies. She has a varied background on both client
and agency side, having worked across a broad number
of brands, including Britvic, Pepsi, Natmags, BP,
EA, Universal Pictures and the Co-operative.
Outside of work, Brothers tries to indulge her travel
bug as often as possible, is currently training
for the Oxfam Trailwalker event and is trying to
perfect her chocolate nut brownie recipe. |

Canvin
Community Manager
Steven Canvin started his career as a graphic artist
and designer in 1989, working in the Danish and
English pre-press industry, for clients in the advertising
and printing industry, before moving over to doing
graphics work in broadcasting, both for regional
Danish TV stations and video production facilities.
In 1998, with the launch of the LEGO MINDSTORMS
brand, Steven applied for a position at LEGO as
Senior Concept Designer and got hired to follow
up on the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® development,
being involved in the full product development process,
from ideation to production to marketing implementation,
and became Design Manager for the design team until
2001 before moving on to working on other concept
projects in the R&D department in the LEGO Group.
In 2007 he came back to the LEGO MINDSTORMS brand
as Business Development Manager before taking up
the position, in Fall 2007 as global Marketing Manager
for the brand, based in the Billund, Denmark HQ.
Since Fall 2010 he has worked as the LEGO MINDSTORMS
Community Manager, interacting with and supporting
the global community of fans. Steven lives with
his wife and three children in Daugaard, Denmark.

Jean-Paul has been with Manning Gottlieb OMD for
almost 15 years. After stints buying print ads and
working in the IT department he stumbled upon an
article about Internet advertising that someone
left on a photocopier in 1997. Somehow this led
to him founding the agencys online planning
and buying offering.
Since 2003 he has worked in a Futures role. The
purpose of Futures in Media is to understand the
evolving communication landscape and provide clients
with valuable insight into the impact of new technology
on media and marketing. This involves everything
from the development of new communications models
based on network effects to the management of various
new forms of media and understanding how we can
possibly measure the effect of these new channels
and approaches. |

at Selfridges. She is responsible of all acquisition
and retention marketing activity. Previously she
was Head of Marketing & Content at vtravelled.com.
Immediately prior to joining Virgin Atlantic, Claire
was at Glam Media where her role was to redefine
the UK brand positioning, editorial, sales and marketing
strategy, reaching over 12 million men and women
online every month. |

Mark Linder is a creative generalist in a world
of specialists, who has worked extensively in the
technology, energy and services sectors and held
senior leadership roles in both agencies and client
companies.
His non-agency background includes disciplines from
commercial marketing to reputation management, including
roles as the first ever chief marketing officer
for KPMG.
He joined WPP as a global client leader, heading
cross-company teams that developed and implemented
branding strategies for clients such as Nokia, AT&T,
Ernst & Young, BP, Ford Motor Company, Vodafone
and McKinsey & Company.
At Bell Pottinger Sans Frontières he has
been shaping strategic planning and creative development
in both the unattributed and attributed spaces.
He is a board member of N2-Helsinki (a strategy
and programme management firm), and a trustee of
Common Purpose, the global leadership development

Global Media Strategy Lead
After graduating in engineering at UFRJ University
in Brazil, Leo joined IBM as a marketing executive
in December 1997. In 2000 he was invited to join
Brazil Telecom as a Marketing Manager responsible
for all retail products like portals, ISP and mobile.
That was also the year he finished his MBA in Marketing
& Advertising.
In 2004 he joined Saatchi & Saatchi as an Account
Director working across all Telecom accounts of
the agency. His relationship skills and strategic
approach helped Saatchi win 2 new brands and secure
an additional £80 million in billings.
In 2007 he joined SMG as an International Director
working across global accounts like UBS, Oracle,
Sothebys and Levis. Soon after, Leo
was promoted to Head of Digital and was responsible
for cutting edge strategy and several award winning
campaigns for brands like Cadburys and Honda.
Leo has recently joined Nokia with the challenge
to lead their media business globally driving innovation
and integration between online and offline

Swinfen-Green Managing Director
Jeremy Swinfen Green has worked for in digital marketing
and media since 1993, working for a variety of advertising
agencies, consultancies and media owners. In 1994
he started one of the UK's first mainstream digital
media agencies, BMP interAction. Between 1995 and
2000 he was global digital media director for Aegis
plc where he was responsible for evangelising the
use of the internet to marketing clients.
Between 2001 and 2006 he was founder and managing
partner of Generator Consulting, where he provided
strategic marketing advice, user experience consultancy
and market research to a variety of clients including
COI, the AA, Orange, Sky, the Guardian, Samsung
and Gillette. Subsequent to that he was Digital
Director at direct marketing agency MC&C where,
among other things, he was responsible for maximising
conversion rates on client websites. He has been
a board member of Amberlight since 2009 and Managing
Director since April 2010.
Jeremy is a founder member of the IPA's digital
media group and is currently a member of the BIS
accessibility forum. He is a Fellow of the Institute
of Business Consultants and a certified management
consultant. |
